This fall is more exciting than ever with our sports
and fitness program, which is exactly what the
program was created and designed for.
Our focus for fall is basketball and soccer.
Below are a few skills that we will be
working on, and will continue to work on through the
final week of the workshop.
To begin with, the LCS program was not designed to
throw a ball around and start a basketball or soccer
game within minutes of the start of class.
LCS was designed to develop the basics of the
sports by utilizing coordination, agility,
locomotive movements, range in motion, and
flexibility.
These skills are imperative to the
progression of all sports.
After all, you must know how to stand before
you walk, and walk before you can run.
With this in mind, the first few classes
focus on general ball skills and spatial awareness.
The exercises and drills are very basic and
also help with hand-eye and foot-eye coordination.
There are exercises and drills hidden in the program
that also develop left and right skills and
LISTENING skills.

DECEMBER & JANUARY:
REVIEW OF SPORTS & SPEED AND
AGILITY
"CHAMPS"
Our youngest athletes have experienced and are
learning the valuable skills of cooperation and
sportsmanship. The main focus of movement is crucial
at this age.
One of their favorite classes is our “General
Ball Class”.
Bounce/catch and counting have had them busy
with the start of sitting, going to their knees, and
eventually standing while working with the ball.
The balls we use are 5 inch balls that work
best for their small hands.
Even rolling a ball is a skill that is
helpful in eventually learning to read. Students are
introduced to working together as a team, and
accomplishing social skills found in team work. The
introduction to sports is apparent by drills working
with balls and other hand/eye and foot/eye
materials. Each week the students are introduced to
a different sport. The lesson begins with the sport
appropriate warm up, basic sport drills, fun games
and closes with the proper sportsmanship high fives
and/or huddles. As with all of our programs, the
students have fun while learning.
WINTER/SPRING SPORTS
During winter and spring we will concentrate on
Baseball, Track & Field, and Soccer.
INCLEMENT WEATHER

schools, we follow their closings.
