SUMMER WORKSHOPS

 

Summer Program Features:

  • One 45 minute class per week at your child’s school (or on-site location).

  • Weeks of June 9th thru August 4th

  • Class limited to 12 students for Pre-Ballet & Tap-Ballet, 15 students for Hip-Hop.

  • Classes are not held the week of June 30th due to July 4th vacations.

  • No registration fee.

  • Also, look for our Summer week-long Mini Camps held at several of our church locations.

“PRE-BALLET”
 

Theme: "PRINCESSES ADVENTURES"


Cinderella, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and more....The class is a structured program designed for the early development of ballet and movement. It precisely meets the needs and limitations of preschoolers by providing a carefully paced sequence of exercises to develop physical conditioning with poise and grace. Since children naturally respond to music and movement, the activities are presented through music. In the program, children learn self-discipline, listening skills, coordination skills, left and right discrimination, patterns in movement, and pre-ballet. Top dance studios across the nation offer Creative Movement “Pre-Ballet” to age 3, 4 and 5 students to enhance self-confidence and enthusiasm.
“TAP & BALLET”
 

Theme: "PRINCESSES ADVENTURES"

Cinderella, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and more.... Our “Tap-Ballet” class is the perfect combination class for Tap and Ballet. The class is divided with 20 minutes of tap and 25 minutes of ballet. Since ballet is the basis for all dance technique, the combinations of both work hand in hand. The technical training is taught through ballet, which in turn helps teach the proper shifting of weight and patterns in movement for tap. Since children naturally respond to music and movement, all of the activities are executed to fun music.
“HIP-HOP”


Learn dance combinations used in “Hip-Hop” dance style. Develop the strength, flexibility, rhythm, leaps, turns, balance, combinations in the center and safe body mechanics to dance confidently in a social atmosphere.

This style of dance is known for fast, athletic movements and lots of popping and jolting, unlike the fluid movement of ballet. “Hip-Hop” is extremely popular and can be seen in commercial, music videos and concerts.

Dress Code

  • Pre-Ballet: Girls will need a pink leotard and pink ballet slippers. Tights are OPTIONAL for summer session due to warm weather.

  • Tap-Ballet: Girls will need a pink leotard, pink ballet slippers, and black tap shoes. Tights are OPTIONAL for summer session due to warm weather.

  • Hip-Hop: Girls will need to wear black Capri length stretch pants* and tennis shoes. No skirts or blue jeans please. Long hair should be pulled away from the face.
    *Black capri length stretch pants can be purchased at Walmart, K-Mart or Target in the activewear clothing section or at your local dance supply store.
    Boys will need to wear something that is does not restrict movement and tennis shoes. No blue jeans please.

Please dress your child at home if they have a morning class. Long hair should be pulled away from the face. Please label all dance attire!

Recitals

Recitals are not held for summer sessions. Recitals are held in May for our September through May session only.

 

Parent Visits

You are cordially invited to observe your child’s class at any time after the first class (bring your camera if you like).

Summer Holidays

Creative Movement and Dance will not hold classes the week of June 30th due to July 4th vacations. This will still leave eight weeks of classes.

 

Summer Tuition

Summer Tuition is $95.00
NO REGISTRATION FEE

  • Payment must be received to begin classes.

  • Students not registered are not permitted to attend class until tuition is received.

  • $30.00 charge for returned checks.

  • The parent must make notification to our office (not to your child’s school) if student drops out of class.

  • Confirmation notices are not mailed out for summer workshops.

  • July newsletter posted on website July 1st.


Instructors

All instructors are professionals, i.e., have performed professionally, are graduates of professional schools, and/or have degrees in dance.
